Syrian communes or clerical rule

Western media are so desperate to put a positive and progressive cast on all developments in Syria that you would think they are talking about a leftist commune.    It reminds me of that Western journalist who wrote early on about the armed groups and told us that they all are Sufis and couples having sex on the side wehen they are not drinking whisky.  But here is the most important bit from the long article: " Two hours later Mr. Osman summoned Mr. Moussa and four others: the job was theirs, the imam told them, by his own unilateral appointment."
