Civil war reenactment in the US

For somebody like myself who came to the US from another culture and world, do you know how the civil war reenactment festivities looks to me?  do you know how bizarre? That some Americans want to relive sceneS asnd moments from a most savage civil war?  If Lebanese were to do something similar regarding their own civil war they would have been so harshly judged in the West.   But the beauty of Western countries is that they stand above punishment.
