I just heard statements made by the client of the Syrian regime in Lebanon, Talal Arsalan (he likes to be called Prince--he had "Prince" on his apartment door when he lived in Alexandria while attending GWU in Washington, DC). He sounded no different from Nasser's bombastic and outlandish propagandists in 1967. He said (from his palace in Khaldah) the he "welcomes the siege by Israel."
