A Saudi student in the US sent me this letter: (I won't publish his name for his protection, naturally):
"Things are more dangerous than they were during the days of King Abdullah. It does not mean that the rule of King Abdullah was democratic but the people are now very afraid of the royal family. There is a policy of intimidation internationally, as I see it, which was not there before, especially in the wake of the recent executions. People are now excessive in praise of the King and his crown prince and the deputy crown prince. During the days of King Abdullah there were unprecedented criticisms in private gatherings against the royal family. But now people are very afraid even in the US. What I hear from my fellow students is that there are student spies who work with the government to identify the students who have anti-government orientations. There is a climate of fear that was not there before, and people are now praising [the regime] a lot to not arouse suspicions., and you may notice that on youtube and twitter where there is plenty of praise for King Salman and his son, Muhammad. I also think from my last trip to Saudi Arabia that there were some privileges for the poor like social security which were dropped from many people under the pretext that they were not deserving. I think by God, I know, that something will happen soon or after a while. I don't know what it will be, but the climate of fear which they are spreading is unprecedented, and makes one predict that something will happen. People don't trust one another now, and that is due to the pursued policies. I send you this letter because I trust that you are a balanced person and analyze courageously. I wish that, if you mind, write about this because no one has fairly analyzed these recent situations, and some people want to cover up these matters with excessive praise because people are afraid especially of the new generation of the royal family; most of those speak arrogantly and in a conceited manner with people, especially Muhammad bin Salman, who is different from Muhammad bin Nayif, who is--to be fair--knows how to talk to people relative (as he is Minister of Interior). Situation is dangerous internally and everyone who lives in Saudi Arabia notices this, and anyone who is fair can notice this. I don't have [specific] information but you can survey youtube and twitter and you will find a lot of clips and tweets which will reveal to you that something will happen. God is most knowing and thank you."

"الأوضاع أصبحت الان اخطر من ايام الملك عبدالله . هذا لايعني ان حكم الملك عبدالله كان ديمقراطياً ولكن الناس الان صارت تخاف من العائلة الحاكمة كثير. هناك سياسة تخويف للشعب داخليا حسب مارآه لم تكن موجوده من قبل وخاصة بعد الاعدامات الاخيرة . فأصبح الكثير من الناس يكثرون في المدح من الملك وولي عهده وولي ولي عهده . ايام الملك عبدالله كان هناك نقد غير مسبوق في المجالس الخاصة للعائلة المالكة. اما الان اصبح الناس يخافون كثير حتى هنا في امريكا . الذي اسمعه من بعض زملائي الطلاب انه فيه بعض الطلاب جواسيس يعملون مع الحكومة لتحديد الطلاب الذين لهم توجهات مناهضة للحكومة . اصبح هناك بيئة خوف لم تكن موجودة من قبل والنَّاس أصبحت تمدح كثير حتى تبعد الشبهة عنهم وتستطيع انت تلاحضه في اليوتيوب وتوتير حيث اصبح هناك الكثير من المدح للملك سلمان وابنه محمد . واعتقد من زيارتي الاخيرة للسعودية . كان هناك مميزات كثيرة للفقراء مثل الضمان الاجتماعي الذي اسقط عن الكثير من الناس بحجة عدم استحقيتهم له. اعتقد والله اعلم بانه سيحدث شي قريبا او بعد فترة . لا اعلم ماهو ولكن بيئة الخوف اللي ينشرونها غير مسبوقة ويجعل اي شخص يتنبأ بشي سيحدث . الناس لم تعد تثق ببعضها وهذا سببه السياسة المتبعة . ارسل هذه الرسالة لك لثقتي بك انك شخص متزن وتحلل الامور بشجاعة. أتمنى منك ولو سمحت ان تكتب عن هذا الامر لانه لايوجد شخص حلل هذه الوضاع المستجدة بأمانة وبعض الأشخاص يريد ان يغطي هذة الأشياء بالمدح الزائد لان أصبحت تخاف خصوصا من الجيل الجديد للعائلة الحاكمة هؤلاء اغلبهم يتكلم بغرور وبتكبر مع الناس وخصوصا ابن الملك محمد بن سلمان الذي يختلف عن محمد بن نايف والذي للأامانة شخص بحكم انه وزير للداخلية وله خبره يعرف كيف يتكلم مع الناس نسبيآ .الاوضاع خطيرة داخليا وكل شخص يعيش في السعودية يلاحظ هاذا الشي ويستطيع اي شخص يتمتع بالامانة ان يلاحظ هاذا الشي . ليس لدي معلومات ولكن فقط تجول في اليوتيوب وتوتير ستجد الكثير من المقاطع والتغريدات اللتي ستوضح لك بأنه سيحدث شي ما الله اعلم به و شكرًا.
