Those French former leftists who abandoned the left for Reagan and Sarkozy: death of André Glucksmann

"He was dismayed when the group kidnapped a Renault executive and, as a Jew, was shocked when radical Palestinians murdered 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.  The turning point came with the publication of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s “The Gulag Archipelago,” a work that transformed him into an implacable enemy of the Soviet Union and all ideologies."  Yes, the fascism of Solzhenitsyn is a humane alternative to the left.
