The Hariri Israeli-US interational court aired a secretly taped meeting (edited of course to minimize embarrassment to Hariri) Rafiq Hariri and Walid Mu`allim. In it, Hariri says: "If Bashshar does not tell me tell me to become prime minister I won't become prime minister".  In the US press, this same Hariri is portrayed as someone who courageously stood up to the Syrian regime.
