Casey Kasem in the New York Times

"Following the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, Mr. Kasem, whose parents belonged to the Druze sect in Lebanon, an offshoot of Islam, became a vocal advocate for Middle East peace and Arab-American causes. "  No, Casey Kasem became a vocal advocate of Palestinians after 1982, and became a vocal critic of the Israeli occupation.  He spoke often in Arab-American conferences against the brutality of Israel and against the Israeli lobby.
