On seeking the truth: Al-Kindi

I came across this passage in a treatise by Al-Kindi:  "We should never be ashamed to approve truth and acquire it no matter what its source might be, even if it might have come from foreign peoples and alien nations far removed from us.  To him who seeks truth no other object is higher in value.  Neither should truth be underrated, nor its exponents belittled.  For indeed truth abases none and ennobles all."  Now, I don't personally philosophically subscribe to this glorification of "truth" and its pursuit, but I like the passage and you should remember the time in which it was said. (Al-Kindi, Rasa'il Al-Kindi Al-Falsfaiyyah, vol. 1, p. 103.)
