Khumayni smiling

I received an avalanche of responses (and attacks and insults) yesterday when I posted in Arabic on Twitter and Facebook that I have not seen Khumayni smile and that his extreme seriousness is off-putting, aside from politics.  And angry readers sent me many pictures in which Khumayni was smiling.  But still the man rarely smiles.  And many clerics don't smile in the Middle East, with a few exceptions, like Hasan Nasrallah.  I often tell the story that I once asked Nasrallah himself: why don't Muslim clerics smile or laugh when the prophet and his companions laughed and joked from the accounts we have.  Nasrallah laughed.
