Western (and Arab) liberal academics

Many of them privately criticize the Syrian "revolution" but are so scared and terrified to dare utter a word of criticism in public.  This is like Thomas Kuhn's notion of prevailing paradigm in his The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.  So according to this, once the "revolutionary" groups become universally condemned in Western government's circles and media, the academics will follow.  It happened before about the mujahedeen in Afghanistan.
