I met with a known Syrian opposition person in London today. I have much to report but don't have time and internet is not good enough here. We had an argument about Bashshar: he thinks that Bashshar is rather dumb, and I argued that Bashshar is not dumb but has been very dumb in his management and governance since the uprising--this is without commenting on the brutality of the regime which has been constant since 1970. But we both agreed that there is--fortunately for the Syrian people--no return to the Asadi rule. Even if he stays in power, it will be a different government altogether.
