Al-Akhbar on Syria

"The media was hailed as one of the heroes of the revolt. Al Jazeera failed to disappoint in its coverage of the early stages of Tunisia's and Egypt's uprisings. But the Qatari Saudi rapprochement turned the station into yet another state-controlled outlet, uncritically adopting the Qatari point of view and propaganda interests that became overtly counter-revolutionary. Other people-centered publications, includingal-Akhbar, were not spared the double-standard approach and lost a good chunk of their credibility."
