Please, I beg you: just don't do it

I really call on all Lebanese critics of Patriarchate Sfayr to refrain from pelting him with old shoes. The reasons are: 1) shoes are a sign of disrespect in Arabic culture. 2) it is illegal in Lebanon to insult or offend "senior" religious figures. 3) the Maronite church this year issued a formal declaration threatening "Great Excommunication" (Al-Hurm al-Kabir) to anyone who insults the patriarch. 4) The shoe could miss the Patriarch and hit a bystander. And that would be cruel.
