The collaboration army: Dahlan, O Dahlan

"A report, published in the Jerusalem Post on Monday declares that Israel’s minister of defense has decided to allow the shipment of 1,000 rifles to the Palestinian Authority.The delivery of the weapons, that came from abroad, was already approved some weeks ago, but was held up due to ballistic tests. The Israeli army has said that this is customary for all weapons that are transferred to the PA. It will allow the army to know if the weapons are used in attacks against Israel.Israel approved earlier this year another major shipment of weapons to the PA. Russia donated fifty BTR-70 armored vehicles. The vehicles are currently in Jordan, waiting for final checks to be completed.At the same time Israeli army officials stated that the PA is having difficulties trying to recruit soldiers for new battalions that will be trained by the US.In the past four Palestinian battalions, comprising over 2,000 soldiers, have already been trained by US security coordinator Keith Dayton. They are now being deployed in Jenin, Hebron, Jericho and Bethlehem. Now the plans are to train another three battalions, adding another 2,000 soldiers to the number of US trained PA soldiers. The Israeli army officials made clear that Israel supports the enlargement of the PA forces, but the PA itself wasn’t able to find enough Palestinian youth interested in joining."

PS A person who knows a lot about Middle East affairs and knows the persons in question, tells me that contrary what is widely perceived, Dayton hates Muhammad Dahlan and Dahlan hates Dayton. Dayton never forgave Dahlan for the performance of his gangs in Gaza against Hamas. (thanks Olivia)
