Dumb news of the day. I heard on Al-Jazeera that Hizbullah issued a statement in which it expressed its congratulations for the election of Sarkozy. Now, I tried to look at Hizbullah's sites to verify that, but could not find the news. So if this is true, it certainly qualifies as the dumbest piece of news of the day. And as it this is not enough, the statement called on Sarkozy to adhere to "balanced policies" in the Middle East. Tomorrow, Hizbullah may ask Bush to liberate Palestine too. (I saw that news confirmed on Al-Arabiya TV. The statement was attributed to the chief of foreign relations at Hizbullah, Nawwaf Al-Musawi. I have known Nawwaf for more than 22 years, and he will know what I think of this statement when I visit Lebanon in July. Or wait. He knows what I think already).
