James Glanz of the New York Times has a degree in physics but it does not stop him from pontificating on the Arabic language

He says: "Dugri may derive from driving directions in Arabic".   The word "dughri" in Arabic is in fact not Arabic, as the sound indicates.  It is from the Ottoman Turkish word dogru, which means "straight".  Something about the New York Times: it makes their correspondents pontificate on topics of which they know nothing about.
