The first usage of the word "Islamism"

The first appearance of the word "Islamism" (to my knowledge and purely based on my own reading) was in Andrew Archibald Paton, "The Modern Syrians: or Native Society in Damascus, Aleppo, and the Mountains of the Druses", from 1843, but it was used in reference to religion.
