When the Syrian regime imposes a siege (even on fighters) it is presented as a war crime and Western human rights organziations raise a hue and cry, but when the armed opposition groups in Syria impose a siege and blockade on civilians it is seen merely as "controversial"

It is only controversial alas? The tactic is controversial enough among supporters and opponents of the rebels that residents of the Bustan al-Qasr neighborhood staged a protest on Tuesday at a rebel checkpoint. Rebels shot in the air to disperse the protests, local activists said.
“This is not a revolution,” a sheik shouted at rebels in a video posted online. “This is injustice.”"
