"Joseph Massad, who teaches modern Arab politics and intellectual history
at Columbia University in New York argues that throwing out a dictator
with the help of foreign allies is always a bad idea." You are saying that Joseph is opposed to foreign occupation? I can't believe that. How dare you, Joseph, how dare you? So Joseph is not a fan of the American occupation of Iraq (a classic case of "throwing out a dictator with the help of foreign allies") which toppled Saddam? So Joseph is not a fan of the sectarian republic of Iraq which is ruled by an Ayatullah who never left his home except once in ten years? So Joseph is not a fan of the Saudi-Qatari-US-French-UK-German-UAE intervention in Syria? How can Joseph distrust those friends of the Syrian people? How can he??? I can't believe it. I am really upset now. Hell, probably, Joseph is not a fan either of Israeli invasions of Arab countries. But no worry, at least the article cited Arab supporters of Hariri and Saudi Arabia. The article also resorted to a common trick: to imply that there are only two currents among Arab intellectuals: one that supports the Syrian regime, and another that supports the "Syrian revolution", which basically puts any critic of foreign intervention in the camp of the Syrian regime.
