I knew it: how to report on Syria

I woke up certain that US newspapers, and certainly the New York Times, would not report on the counter-defection of the southern commander of the Free Syrian Army.  Some Arab media were reporting the significant news of the return of this guy with his unit back to the Syrian regime, but I knew that any news that is seen as damaging to the propaganda effort of the Free Syrian Army would not be tolerated in the US media.  It is very much like the coverage of Israel: only favorable news is permitted.
