FLASH: US is worried about freedom of the press in Egypt

This is for the history books.  The US government, which never since 1978 (year of Camp David) ever worried about restrictions in the press in Egypt, has decided a year after the fall of Mubarak to express concerns over freedom of the press.  Are you kidding me?  I am the last to support the Ikhwan president but you are telling me that there were more freedoms under Mubarak?  And did the US government just suddenly woke up to this issue?  But then again: if House of Saud falls, I am sure that the US government would then express strong concerns about freedom of the press under the new regime.
