Ali Farzat and the rhetoric of Syrian opposition liberals

People have been sending me samples of the writings of major Syrian opposition intellectuals from Facebook.  There is such a decline in standards.  I have introduced the art of Ali Farzat to you over the years and have often argued that he is by far the best living Arab cartoonist.  But something happened to him during the Syrian crisis (in addition to being beaten by regime thugs early on).  First, he has not produced one good drawing as if his vulgar politics has damaged his talent.  Secondly, he has become quite low in his political expression.  Yesterday, a guy wrote on Farzat's FB page calling for beheading the recent Lebanese hostage held by Free Syrian Army.  And Mr. Farzat expressed his "like" for the beheading idea.  What is happening out there?  If this is the style of the opposition before it reaches power, you can bet your potato that it will be replicating the criminal Asad rule--but with far more sectarian hatred.

Amer sent me this:

"ali ferzat liked this comment on his wall:
Emad Amer لازم يقطعو راسو لهالمقدادي ويبعتوه ببوط عسكري لاهلو
26 minutes ago ·  · 2"
It reads:  (They should behead this Muqdad [family member] and send it inside a military boot to his family).
