US Ambassador in Lebanon spoke an Arabic word

Maura Connelly was on her favorite channel today: the right-wing, racist and misogynistic, MTV station.  It is the equivalent of a far-right party in Europe.  But Connelly has always supported the station: it was her first interview on Lebanese TV, as I remember.  I learned that she belongs to the Jeffrey Feltman school of Arabic in US diplomacy: whereby the ambassador says "shukran" (thank you) before proceeding to answering all questions in English.  The use of one Arabic word is assumed by the Feltman school to send the false impression that the speaker knows Arabic words.  (Of course, even the pronunciation of the one word is fumbled: Feltman pronounced Shukran as shiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeoooooopeeeelooooaaaaaaaaaaaaan.  Kid you not.
