the quotable "expert": he wants Arabs to build trust with Israeli leaders

Ahmet in Tunisia sent me this:  "Asad, we're probably killing it, but for someone like him who emerges as the most quoted western (with a native name)"pundit" on ME uprisings, one must have really solid Zionist credentials to go with: here is a paper written by him a couple of weeks ago where he talks at length about "reorienting US ME policy" only to reach this concluding paragraph with the supposed "change the course" recommendations.. i am bold highlighting its pearls of wisdom and the original nuggets that has never been articulated before he jotted them down in here

"A top priority for the next president must therefore be rebuilding trust with Israeli leaders and reaching out to the Israeli public. A presidential visit and public address in Israel, focusing on the concerns and fears of Israelis, would be a good place to start.  The Arab Spring will see the emergence of governments that are less amenable to Israel’s security interests. The more democratic the Middle East becomes, the more anti-Israel new elected governments will be. Israel’s isolation is only likely to grow. With this in mind, the United States should make clear that it stands firmly by Israel during a difficult time, while also impressing upon it the need to act sooner rather than later to make the difficult but ultimately necessary compromises for a durable peace."
Yes; this is the director of "research" at Brookings Doha. This wannabe mandarin -- seemingly aware that the leading Arab Revolutionary Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani chairs the advisory council of his institute-- has the effrontery to write this after calling on "liberalizing monarchies" such us Morocco and Kuwait to be rewarded for reforms measures: "This reform endowment should be funded with contributions from the United States, European nations, Turkey, Brazil, Qatar, and other like-minded powers."..What a joke really!!"
