The National Inquirer and the New York Times

I have been reading headlines of the National Inquirer at the checkout counter since I came to the US. I can unequivocally say that the Inquirer has a better credibility record than the New York Times.  By far. And it is far less independent in its editorial decisions.  If the Inquirer tells me that a celebrity is dying or divorcing, I expect it to happen the next day.  For years, the New York Times has been telling me that the Mubarak regime is "stable."
