So just let the US pick the "pragmatic" leaders for Syria and all will be well. Damn. I no more am worried about Syria's future

"The U.S. should help prepare the Syrian opposition for the challenges of governing a fractured country by facilitating the negotiation for a representative and unified political entity, with a greater role for pragmatic leaders on the inside."  And personally, I have always since my youth been a big fan of US facilitation.  I mean, when the US deployed the Marines in Lebanon in 1982 to shore up the regime of Gemayyel, it facilitated the hell out of the southern suburbs and the mountains of the Shuf of Lebanon.
