Bashshar, the immodest

Of all the Arab tyrant, Bashshar has been by far the most arrogant.  At least Mubarak and Bin Ali--and even Saudi King--feigned modesty before their people after the eruption of uprisings, but not Bashshar. He still operates as if business as usual and prefers to talk to the foreign press than to talk to his own people.  I think that he still operates according to the dictum of his tyrant father: that addressing the people can be seen as weakness.
