Donna Shalala

The AUB choice of Donna Shalala for an honorary doctorate could not have been worse.  The choice is an insult to Arabs in Lebanon and to Arabs in the US.  As Arabs in Miami have commented: "Donna Shalala shows her affinity to her culture by eating hummus."  That is the only link that she has ever established with Arab culture.  She was regularly humiliated at the airport in Israel and never once dared to protest and in fact kept repeating how she will continue to visit and even called on the Israeli occupiers to humiliate her some more.  But from the AUB board, I only expect Zionist outrages.  No less.
