When I read about the massive demonstration in Basrah (estimated by local police at 700,000) organized by Muqtada As-Sadr, I knew that it would not get any attention in the Western press. It was organized on the anniversary of the US invasion. I noticed this in Lebanon too. A small demonstration that is anti-Hizbullah in Lebanon or a small one against a regime that the US does not like, gets ample coverage. But a massive demonstration against a pro-US regime is largely ignored. Another sign of the extent to which the Western press just follow the inclinations of the US government nowadays.
