The political mood in Egypt toward the US

There are dumb voices in the US, best represented by Thomas Friedman this morning, who consider the prosecution of illegally operating US NGOs in Egypt as being purely the work of a "Mubarak holdover"--it is ironic that supporters of Mubarak now suddenly find fault in being a protege of Mubarak.  But what Fayza Abul Naga is doing in Egypt is expressing the public mood in Egypt in the wake of the uprising.  People like Thomas Friedman were insisting that the Egyptian uprising had no foreign policy goals while anyone who reads Arabic knows better.  Look at this interview with Nabil Fahmdi (a former ambassador in Egypt and a supporter of strong US-Egyptian relations).  I was rather amazed how critical he and the reporters were of the US and its role in Egypt. It reflects the mood.
