New ideas in the Arab world

"So while the Arab uprisings generated a marvelous range of innovative tactics (uploading mobile-camera videos to social media like Facebook and Twitter, seizing and holding public squares), they did not introduce any particularly new ideas."  Well, 1) the affair of the uprising is far from being over; 2) what kind of "particularly new ideas" did the changes in Eastern Europe bring about?  Can you name one--other than the bland and vapid speeches of Havel.  Please.
