Nostalgia for colonial times?

To my dear comrades at Jadaliyyah: they should avoid the trend of nostalgia for colonial times or for the 1950s.  There is nothing to be nostalgic about in those times.  Shukri Quwatli? The "independence" buffoon? The one who received a Palestinian delegation in 1948 and promised them that Syria has the atomic bomb? Shukri Quwatli?  Don't get me wrong.  Quwatli looked really funny in the tarbush, but still.
