It was not in the US press and barely in the Arabic press. But thousands of people in Fallujah, Iraq went out to celebrate the withdrawal of US occupation troops from Iraq and to honor the victims of the US brutal assault on the area. No matter what, the brutal US assault on Fallujah will go down as one of the worst cases of war crimes by an occupation force. It is incredible how casually the incineration of people went in the US conscience. It was not an offense to people's sensibilities although the lethal side effects of the incarceration will continue for years to come.
PS After I posted this, I saw a report in the NYT about Fallujah and the celebration. More later.
