Visiting Syrian refugees

A Syrian whose identity should be protected sent me this:  "My brother who is a physician went to Turkey this past weekend with 6 other Syrian doctors from Germany to Turkey where they visited the syrian refugees and brought with them 700 kilos worth of medicine, he said it was a very eye opening trip and he mentioned the following headlines:

  • The morale of the refugees is very high and they are very determined to be steadfast till the regime falls.
  • Most of them were from Idlib , Hamma , Jisr Al shougour and Ramle refugee camp and left everything behind.
  • The wounded were in bad shape , many of them will be disabled permanently , they were hit with dumdum bullets to maximize injury and increase fatality.
  • Children are being taught in make shift tents turned into schools , there is enough teachers that are taking care of that and the turkish government was able to provide books , they are also teaching the children turkish.
  • Turkey gives refugee 35 turkish lira per family(18 dollars) , refugees complained that this is not enough for them at all , if kids want to eat potato instead of rice the allowance is gone as one refugee mom put it.
  • Each person my brother spoke with had a depressing story , each one lost a direct family member or knows someone directly that was killed.
  • He met a mother who lost 3 of her sons , she told him I have 5 more and they are all willing to die so Syria can be free from that dog bashar.
They brought with them 100 boxes of muffins and the kids were fighting over it like there is no tomorrow , the kids told them "we want clothes and toys" !!
So the doctors went to the town and bought 30 soccer balls from and gave it to the kids and they were very happy.
Over all he was very touched by how determined and optimistic they were despite of everything they have gone through.
They thanked him for coming and visiting and caring and said "the real opposition should do what you did not fight and argue" and many when they knew
he was from Daraa praised it for starting the revolution..."
