Tomato attack on US ambassador in Damascus

I am following the indignant US official reactions to the tomato attack on the US ambassador in Damascus.  One statement got my attention: the US government stated that those who attacked the envoy of the ambassador were regime goons or words to that effect.  Why?  Is the US claiming that anybody who express opposition or even rage against US and its representatives in the Middle East must be a goon of the regime?  Are you kidding me? Are Zionists are the Department of State that capable of deluding themselves?  They dont think that the are millions of Arabs who are genuinely and sincerely enraged at the US government and their representatives?  I can introduce you to many Arabs, in Syria and in Saudi Arabia, who are opponents to all Arab regimes but who are fiercely angry at the US and are willing to get their tomatoes and eggs and more at any US diplomatic representative.  The notion that only regime goons hate US officials is a symptom of arrogance of big power.  In fact, I was expecting the US government to maintain that the tomato attack on the convoy has the hallmark of Al-Qa`idah and that the perpetrators would be attacked form the air by drones.  That would not surprise me one bit.
