Now let us move to perhaps another lie by the US government

OK.  Here is the deal.  Of course, every Arab government maintains people from the mukhabrat at its embassy in Washington, DC.  Saudi Arabia has a special section to monitor and spy on Saudi students in the US, as any Saudi student in the US would tell you.  In fact, Saudi Arabia has the widest most monstrous network of spies against Saudis in the US, but you can bet that the US government would never dare molest those spying activities.  Syrian embassy is not an exception.  I remember that the son of a former Syrian ambassador told me that his dad was always afraid of an employee under him who clearly worked for the mukhabarat at the embassy.  So the notion that Syrian mukhabrat would spy on Syrians does not surprise me in the least. But I will tell you what is clearly a lie: that this guy was spying on Syrians in the US and then get a private one-on-one meeting with Bashshar Al-Asad is just not believable.  Something is missing (or added) here.
