Walid Maalouf: the candidate
None of the American or Lebanese media have reported on the defeat of one of the most insignificant and marginal candidates in the Lebanese election. Walid Maalouf was even featured in an article in the New York Times in which he bragged about his electoral skills and how his campaign was catching on. This fellow was a most minor player in the neo-con team of the Bush administration, but he was too much even for them. So he set up base in Lebanon: but the March 14 movement could not take him on as a candidate: his Zionist likudnik record was an embarrassment, so he ran as an independent and nobody has heard from him, and no one will hear about the political ambitions of this dude.
