Robert Worth on Saudi Arabia
"Saudi Arabia, which supports the current government majority, has provided tremendous support to Lebanon, including at least $2 billion to Lebanon’s central bank since 2006." "Provided tremendous support for Lebanon"? Are you talking about Lebanon or about the Hariri-Salafite camp in Lebanon? First, most of the money that Saudi Arabia pledges to Lebanon, never arrives. Most of the money that Saudi Arabia had pledged to Lebanon after the Israeli war on Lebanon, has not arrived yet. How does Saudi Arabia support Lebanon? By arming militias and funding sectarian forces like the Lebanese Forces and the Phalanges Party and Walid Jumblat? That is considered support for Lebanon? So in that sense, Russia was merely supporting Afghanistan when it installed Babrak Karmal as head of government. And I dont know about you, but I take communist rule of Salafite rule or Phalanges rule any day of my life.
