Journalism at its Worst

You read this headline in the New York Times this morning: "Pakistan’s Spies Aided Group Tied to Mumbai Siege." But as you actually read the article you learn that American intelligence agents make that allegation (and I will not enter here into the validity of the allegation which in all probability seems plausible). But the headline should be "American Intelligence Alleges that...." If you don't put that in the headline, you merely reinforce the perception that we readers have that the New York Times and the Washington Post peddles US government (and Israeli government) leaks as truths.
