Maureen and Marcy disagreed with EDB's account. Maureen said: "I saw your posting on the blog about Americans not being able to enter Syria without visas issued beforehand. There is an exception to this with the Syrian/Lebanese land border. I have entered Syria on three occasions by being issued a visa upon arrival to the land border between Beirut and Damascus. I've waited 3-5 hours each time, but spending even a couple of days in Damascus is well worth that wait! I've never been questioned either, besides basic questions as the hotel where I'll be staying, the purpose of my visit, etc. The 3-5 hour wait, while annoying, is made a little more comfortable since there is a cafe in the same complex as the duty-free."
