Dubai: the model. From claiming to promote democracy, Bush is now reduced to promoting Dubai: which of course is the real purpose of US foreign policy all along. The model of Dubai (read the memoirs of Sheikh Mo which was praised by Daniel Pipes--no wonder, because Palestine and occupation are never mentioned) is one based on rigid hierarchy of wealth, race, ethnicity, and blood lineage. It is a model of polygamy and sleaze: an economy that is based on services and prostitution (there is a crack down on poor people's prostitution--only "elite" and expensive prostitution is permitted). Dubai is the model of exploitation of labor and the imposition of the rule MNCs and their interests. Yesterday, comrade Fawwaz Trabulsi spoke about the new foundation set up by Sheikh Mo: that is based on the silly and false assumptions and claims of UNDP's Human Development Reports (the bible of Thomas Friedman) and that it does not mention...OIL.
