Another American tribute to Al-Arabiya TV. Scandalous. If you read this fawning and pathetic tribute to Al-Arabiya TV by Robret Worth of the New York Times you discover one disturbing thing: much of the claims that were included by Worth in his piece on Al-Jazeera (see below) were taken word for word from `Abdur-Rahman Al-Rashid. But look at Rashid here: "Today, that is no longer true, he feels. "Now Jazeera is a very soft, reasonable station when it comes to the Iraqis," Rashed says, with an ironic twinkle in his eyes." Of course, Worth has nothing to say about Al-Arabiya coverage of Saudi Arabia and its princes. But Rashid at least is aware of his own talents: "He says he is "probably the highest-paid" person in the entire Arab media business." That is really the extent of his credentials. (thanks Veli)
PS References to Al-Arabiya ratings in the article are quite inaccurate. Shibli Telhami recently conducted Arab countries-wide surveys and they show that Aljazeera is still first by far.
