Walid `Idu in 2002. If I have a research staff, I can find plenty of juicy nuggets. Here, in this issue of Ash-Sharq Al-Awsat from July 20th, 2002, Walid `Idu--the same Walid `Idu who is described today in Saudi and US media as a "staunch critic of Syria--criticizes another politician because he was not vocal enough against a Maronite conference in Los Angeles (which was critical of the Syrian role in Lebanon): `Idu found the conference hostile to Lebanon and Syria. He added that he objected to the resolutions of the conference "and what they contained from hostile thesis against sister Syria, and aggressive propositions, behind which stand Zionist parties in the US." Do you see why I am cynical?
