The Jordanian Islamist opposition is the most annoying opposition I know. A Jordanian committee that opposes normalization with Israel has called on Mauritania to sever diplomatic ties with Israel, I kid you not. Jordan, of course, has the warmest ties with Israel of any Arab government. Let us not forget how King Husayn flew to Israel in 1973 to warn Israel about a possible Arab-Israeli war. The Egyptian and Syrian leaders did not trust him with the information, but he feared deep in his heart that they may launch war. Yet, the Jordanian opposition is willing to trample on its principles and positions if invited to celebrate the Throne Day of the King.
