We have a very funny (not intentionally) Minister of Defense in Lebanon. He was only brought to the Lebanese cabinet because Emile Lahhud (notorious and shameless in nepotism) wanted his son-in-law to be a minister (he is now divorced from Lahhud's daughter); and his father, Michel Murr, has been one of the most loyal servants of Syrian intelligence in Lebanon (after serving Israeli intelligence and arranging for the installation of Bashir Gemayyel as president by bribing every single member of the Lebanese parliament--my late father was a witness to many of these transactions. When Murr survived an assassination attempt two years ago, he first accused "Palestinians" before he changed his tune and blamed Syria. He also threatened that the Lebanese Army "will teach Israel a lesson that it will never forget" if Israeli troops were to step foot on Lebanese territory. And when Israel actually invaded Lebanon, Murr disappeared. This week on LBC-TV, he had the audacity to blame the sectarian warfare of Lebanon two weeks ago on "one Syrian and one Palestinian.
