Nir Rosen, an American correspondent who covered Iraq (and whose book on Iraq will be coming out soon), sent me this: "the guy in charge of psychological operations in al asad air base, which is the largest and most important US base in the anbar, if not all of iraq, has patai's book in his very small collection, which includes a bernard lewis book and a book on gulf arabic (i found that especially odd since there have been so many recent books on the iraqi dialect, some published by georgetown) also, one of the video games that soldiers buy at the PX is called battlefield and features american soldiers battling the bad guys in a big cordova type mosque."
