Bush took Lebanonese prime minister, Fu'ad Sanyurah on a stroll on the White House grounds. Those silly gestures mean a lot to those empty politicians. These are people who when Westerners tell them "stay in touch", they take it literally. I heard that Amin Gemayyel still--I am not making this up--sends x-mass and Easter greetings and gifts to every Western official that he had met as president (installed by Israeli tanks). Today, I watched as Sanyurah was nodding his head as Bush elaborated on the virtues of the Hummus Revolution. Sanyurah looked like he was dripping Hummus from both sides of his mouth. Did you see Bush say that "We took great joy" in....the assassination of Rafiq Hariri? He said that. Read Bush's full remark: you realize that his words are so bland and generic, that they can apply to any country in the globe. He just had to add the word "hummus" to give it a special flavor. When he speaks about Iran, he adds "fasinjoon" and on and on. And then Sanyurah added this: "I am really convinced that President Bush and the United States will stand beside Lebanon to have Lebanon stay as a free, democratic, united, and sovereign state. And the United States is really of great importance in this regard, whether this can be done directly or indirectly. The last three words are the only signifiers in the whole text of both men's remarks. O, Lebanese: your country was never free; but it will get more and more unfree. Brace yourself. The Phalanges have now appeared in Sunni (elite) clothes.
