I have written about, and mocked, the segment of "famous and rich Lebanese" that precedes the LBC-TV's evening newscast. In the past, the segment, as you may remember, featured such non-Lebanese as Elie Kazan, Frank Zappa, Jack Hanna, and Jack in the Box. The other day, the segment featured Shannon Elizabeth who appeared in the great masterpiece American Pie. But Elizabeth, always said that her father was of Lebanese-Syrian descent. LBC-TV struck down the Syrian part of her heritage. Convenient for Lebanonese nationalism.
