I can't stand anything that Muhammad Abi Samra writes in An-Nahar. He tries to imitate Waddah Shararah (his close right-wing friend). In his article yesterday in Tahqiq, he is writing about the "anniversary" of February 6th, for those who follow the history of the Lebanese civil war. But he errs in talking about the bombing of the offices of Beirut newspaper and the assassination of Iraqi Ba`thist (and poet), Musa Shu`ayb. It was the Syrian intelligence services (through As-Sa`iqah) who were behind those two particular violent events. Abi Samra's style is filled with venom against the Palestinian people, and with classist sectarianism. But then again: is hostility to Palestinians and right-wing sectarianism not a job requirement at An-Nahar?
