So I am back from my sabbatical at California State University, Stanislaus. One of the first things that the chairperson of my department told me was that among those people (not students) who call to protest about my media appearances and my public views, was this woman who heard me 2 weeks ago on Forum on KQED, and she alleged that I am "destroying civilization." No less. My ego was flattered, I have to admit. I mean, how much power do I have?
